HOMEFRONT: South Dakota Stories
Student Story Submissions

The 7th graders at the Agar-Blunt-Onida school district were assigned  a special project late last fall - to interview family  or community members who served in World War II or remember what life was like on the Homefront.

The students were graded on the quality of their interview questions and the technical aspects of their writing - i.e. usage, grammar, etc. Teacher Barb Unruh says after the first couple of interviews, all the students were excited about the project. Unruh says there were two goals in assigning this project - to help students connect with their grandparents and other elders in the community and to preserve these war time stories that are disappearing as this generation passes on.

Enjoy these written interview conducted by Barb Unruh's 2007-2008 7th graders from the Agar-Blunt-Onida school district!
